Spotlight: The Grieves House
The Grieves House is a 2-bed farmhouse on the Banchory estate, and is where I stayed when I visited. The farmhouse is endlessly luxurious, with all the comforts and facilities you could ever dream of needing.
The house is spacious, gets lots of natural light, has a well-manicured private garden, and has a cosy living room with a fireplace, perfect for those cold winter evenings, or comfortable spring/summer days.

By day go hiking, and by night, look at the stars
Whilst spending your time enjoying the farm and cottage itself is lovely, there are also other activities you can occupy yourself with. Namely, Banchory Farm’s grounds are lovely to go for a walk on. The 750 acres can be explored by a circular 3 – 5 km walk, which also takes you past the famous ‘kissing trees’. Even beyond, you can hike to a loch, a castle, or even a famous viewpoint from Banchory Farm. Each of these hikes is complete with marked paths, beautiful sea views, and the tranquil sounds of nature.

By night, you can step outside your cottage and be enchanted by beautiful starry skies, crisp winds, and (if you’re lucky) maybe even see the highland cows again. Due to the lack of significant light pollution (except slightly from Kirkcaldy), it may be possible to see certain Northern constellations like the Ursa Major! Perfect for any stargazer or astronomy lover.
